1. Introduction

Humanitarian Action of Hope, Inc. (“HAH,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Texas nonprofit corporation and a federally tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN: 41-2650196) headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our donors, volunteers, partners, beneficiaries, and visitors to our website.

This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we collect through our website at hahope.org (the “Website”) and through our donor and program operations, how we use and protect that information, and the rights you have regarding your personal information. By using our Website or providing information to HAH, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

2. Who We Are

Humanitarian Action of Hope, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity incorporated under the laws of the State of Texas on November 15, 2025 (Texas SOS File Number 806306434). We operate four primary programs: International Humanitarian Partnerships in Africa (in collaboration with GAAM ASBL in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo); Emergency Relief and Humanitarian Aid; Community Development and Empowerment; and Compassionate Care and Community Outreach.

HAH has earned the Candid Platinum Transparency 2026 Seal, reflecting our commitment to financial accountability and operational openness.

  • Event participation information: name, contact details, and any registration information you provide when participating in HAH events or fundraisers.

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our Website, certain information is collected automatically by our hosting provider (Wix.com Ltd.) and analytics tools, including:

  • Device and browser information: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, and device identifiers;

  • Usage information: pages viewed, time spent on the Website, referring website, search terms used to find our Website, and clicks within the Website;

  • Cookies and similar technologies: small data files stored on your device that help us understand how you use our Website. See Section 7 (Cookies) for more information.

3.3 Information from Third Parties

We may receive information about you from third-party service providers who help us operate, including donation processors (Crowded), email service providers, analytics providers, and social media platforms when you interact with us through those platforms (for example, when you follow us on Facebook or Instagram).

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes, all of which are consistent with our charitable mission and operations as a 501(c)(3) public charity:

  • To process donations, issue tax receipts, and acknowledge contributions;

  • To communicate with donors, volunteers, and supporters about our programs, impact, and ways to get involved;

  • To comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including IRS reporting obligations under federal tax law (such as donor disclosure on Form 990 Schedule B where applicable) and Texas state requirements;

  • To maintain accurate donor and grant records as required for our financial audits, IRS Form 990 filings, and Candid transparency reporting;

  • To coordinate with our international partner GAAM ASBL on humanitarian programs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo;

  • To respond to inquiries, requests for information, and customer service needs;

  • To recruit and coordinate with volunteers and program participants;

  • To improve our Website, programs, and communications based on feedback and usage analytics;

  • To prevent fraud, enforce our policies, and protect the security of our Website, donors, and beneficiaries;

  • To send fundraising appeals, impact updates, and event invitations to donors and supporters who have not opted out.

5. Our Promise to Donors: We Do Not Sell or Trade Your Information

HAH does not sell, rent, lease, trade, or otherwise transfer donor information, including names, addresses, email addresses, or giving history, to any third party for that party’s commercial or fundraising purposes. This commitment is consistent with the Donor Bill of Rights and is fundamental to the trust our donors place in us.

Your donation is your gift; your information is not.

6. How We Share Your Information

We share information only as necessary to operate our charitable mission, comply with the law, and protect HAH, our donors, and beneficiaries. Specifically, we may share information with:

6.1 Service Providers

We engage third-party service providers to perform functions on our behalf. These providers receive only the information necessary to perform their function and are bound by their own privacy commitments. Our service providers include:

  • Crowded – our donation platform and payment processor (collect.crowded.me);

  • Wix.com Ltd. – our website hosting and email collection platform;

  • Google LLC – our email, document, and productivity platform (Google Workspace);

  • Meta Platforms, Inc. – social media presence on Facebook and Instagram;

  • Candid – nonprofit transparency reporting platform;

  • Banking and financial institutions – to deposit and reconcile donations.

6.2 Charitable and Program Partners

To carry out our international humanitarian programs, we share limited operational information with our program partner GAAM ASBL in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. We do not share individual donor information with GAAM ASBL except in aggregate or with the donor’s explicit consent (for example, when a donor wishes to be acknowledged for a specific gift to a specific project).

6.3 Legal and Regulatory Disclosures

We may disclose information when required by law, including:

  • In response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process;

  • To the Internal Revenue Service in our annual Form 990 filings, including donor disclosure where required by law;

  • To the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts and other state agencies as required;

  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of HAH, our beneficiaries, donors, volunteers, or others;

  • In connection with the investigation of suspected fraud or other illegal activity.

6.4 Public Recognition

From time to time, with appropriate consent, we may publicly acknowledge donors (for example, on our Website, in annual reports, or at events). Donors who wish to remain anonymous may indicate this preference at the time of donation or by contacting us at any time.

6.5 Successors and Affiliates

In the unlikely event of a merger, dissolution, or transfer of HAH’s charitable assets to another 501(c)(3) public charity (consistent with our governing documents and IRS requirements), donor and beneficiary information may be transferred as part of that process, subject to confidentiality protections.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our Website uses cookies and similar technologies to provide functionality, analyze usage, and improve user experience. Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your web browser. We use the following categories:

  • Essential cookies: required for the basic functioning of the Website (for example, remembering your preferences during a session);

  • Analytics cookies: help us understand how visitors interact with our Website (for example, which pages are most visited);

  • Donation processing cookies: enable secure donation transactions through our payment processor.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies, although doing so may affect the functionality of our Website. We do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals because no industry standard has been established for how to interpret them.

8. International Data Transfers

HAH is based in the United States, and our service providers are primarily located in the United States. Because we operate humanitarian programs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo through our partner GAAM ASBL, limited operational information may be transferred internationally. Where we transfer personal information outside the United States, we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected consistent with this Privacy Policy.

If you are located outside the United States and provide information to HAH, you consent to the transfer of that information to the United States and to the use and disclosure of that information as described in this Privacy Policy.

9. Children’s Privacy

Our Website is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent, consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13 without proper consent, we will delete that information promptly. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided information to us should contact us at the address below.

10. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal information, subject to applicable law:

10.1 Access, Correction, and Deletion

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you by contacting us at the address provided in Section 14. We will respond to verified requests in accordance with applicable law. Please note that we may need to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, including IRS recordkeeping requirements for nonprofits (generally requiring donor records to be retained for at least seven years).

10.2 Opt-Out of Communications

You may unsubscribe from our marketing and fundraising emails at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in any email or by contacting us directly. We will continue to send transactional communications (such as donation receipts and tax acknowledgments) as required by law and as necessary to fulfill your relationship with HAH.

10.3 Donor Anonymity

You may request to be listed anonymously in any public donor recognition by indicating this preference at the time of donation or by contacting us at any time.

10.4 State-Specific Rights

Residents of certain states have additional rights under applicable state privacy laws:

  • Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA): Texas residents have the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal data, and to opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising, or profiling. HAH does not sell personal data, engage in targeted advertising, or conduct profiling for decisions producing legal effects;

  • California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA): California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (HAH does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising), and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights;

  • Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other state privacy laws: Residents of these states have rights similar to those described above. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.

To exercise any state-specific rights, contact us at the address provided in Section 14. We will verify your identity before responding to your request.

11. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and to comply with our legal, accounting, and reporting obligations. In particular:

  • Donor records and tax-related information are retained for at least seven (7) years to comply with IRS recordkeeping requirements;

  • Volunteer records are retained for the duration of the volunteer relationship and a reasonable period thereafter;

  • Email subscription data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion;

  • Website analytics data is generally retained for up to two (2) years.

12. Information Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include access controls, encryption of sensitive data in transit, two-factor authentication on administrative accounts, and reliance on reputable third-party service providers who maintain industry-standard security practices.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you have reason to believe your interaction with us is no longer secure, please contact us immediately.

13. Third-Party Websites and Services

Our Website may contain links to third-party websites or services, including our donation processor (Crowded), social media platforms, and partner organizations. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Policy and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as a notification on our Website or by email).
